The 2008 USRNSF Annual Patriots Day Celebration featured 2 days of classroom and hands on range training including Firearms safe handling proceadures and the chance for members and registered guests to fire a 50 BMG rifle.

The May 2008 USRNSF Range Day included a picnic, a class in Safe Firearms Handling, Instruction if the basic differences in firearm types and functions and the chance for members and registered guests to gain hands on exposure to multiple types of firearms, sight systems and accesories. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles, semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, removable box magazines, feed thru magazines and drum magazines. Commercial and Military style open sights as well as several variations of optical sighting and lighting systems. In addition participants were allowed to experience sustained rapid semi-automatic weapons fire typically not allowed at most ranges.
