WELCOME TO
  Work40.org

The one thing we should all be able to count on is that we don't have to give up our lives, our health or our families to keep our job.

The purpose of the Work40 organization is to promote resonable policy in the workplace to supporting the safety of workers and thier ability to strengthen thier families and communities.

We are currently based in Kansas City servicing Kansas and Missouri and we are just getting started.

One of our primary goals is to promote the 40 hour work week, hence our name Work40.

Many businesses run with only part time workers working a maximum of 32 hours a week and in most cases less so that the company does not have to provide benefits like health insurance, vacation and sick days. This creates a massive hole where workers don't have coverage and don't make enough due to reduced hours to even feed thier families. Yes it saves the company money, but costs us all in tax funded subsidies that go to support these workers.

Other organizations use forced overtime on the workers they already have to keep from having to hire and provide benefits for additional workers. Working their existing workers fifty, sixty, or even more hours a week under threat of termination or suspension if they refuse to work the extra hours. While this may look good on the companies bottom line it leads to higher heathcare premiums for existing workers, higher utilization of health insurance, increased on and off the job injuries and other hidden costs to the company, the workers family and the community.

Our goal is to promote a safe and healthy work environment in every work place in America. Where workers can work a 40 hour week or more if they so choose while being assured that resonable precautions are being taken to ensure they they go home in the same condition that they showed up for work. No employee should have to trade his or her health for a paycheck and no employee should be forced through threats of termination or demotion to work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week sacrificing health and family to keep his or her job.
